As part of Merge’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Chapel Hill’s LIGHT Art+Design hosted a retrospective exhibit of over 40 iconic photographs, paintings, drawings, and sculptures that have appeared on Merge releases over the years, including albums by Superchunk, Destroyer, Lambchop, Arcade Fire, and more.
Designed by Amanda Barr, these posters were silkscreened by The Merch.
We have partnered with Holly Aiken, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, to keep our Merge 25 festival banners out of the landfill by repurposing them to produce these stunning accessories, each locally handcrafted right here in our home state. On September 28, 2013, Eleanor Friedberger joined Superchunk onstage at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC to lend her vocals to covers of The Ramones’ “Oh Oh I Love Her So” and Patti Smith’s “Free Money.” Those two recordings are collected on this limited-edition 7-inch, which features cover art by Casey Burns.
